This morning, a few parents at Tucumcari Middle School reported seeing a suspicious individual walking westbound in front of the Chamber of Commerce on Tucumcari Blvd, appearing to carry a “long gun.” Tucumcari Police were notified immediately, and students were safely placed in lockdown in the cafeteria. Police quickly made contact with the individual and confirmed that the person was carrying a plastic bb gun, not a real firearm. Students were held in the cafeteria until the all clear from the Tucumcari Police Department.

Students who normally attend a 6th period class at the High School will not be going to the High School today. Instead, they will remain at the Middle School to attend an assembly.
Please make arrangements to pick your student up from the Middle School at the end of the day.

Tucumcari Middle School will have an Awards Assembly at 3:00p.m. today at the Middle School Gym. Families are welcome to attend.
